About the role
We are currently recruiting a Stores Lead to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Production Team.
QTS is a wholly owned subsidiary of QinetiQ Group PLC specialising in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems including the world leading Banshee target. QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.

What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will provide the Stores team with effective leadership and ensure that resources are being used efficiently, to ensure that business demands are met, on time, in full and to the highest level of quality.

Duties will include:

Acceptance of achievable Production kitting Plans, and execute the delivery on time in full, to the required quality
To lead and promote departmental daily layered accountability (DLA) meetings, to collate meaningful improvement metric data, and take lead in driving for improvements
To ensure all items received into stores both internally and externally are correctly and efficiently managed, recorded and identified.
Ownership of departmental Health and Safety including Risk Assessments, which include continual review and maintenance, and effective communication
To be responsible for all items that are returned for servicing, raising the relevant documentation and tracking goods until ready for despatch back to customer.
Maintain a consistent standard of work and performance to satisfy the Company’s Quality Assurance standards, in line with the company’s procedures
To lead recruitment activity including interview, on-boarding and induction
Departmental time and absence management – Holiday, sickness…
Departmental Performance Development Reviews (PDR) – Setting SMART objectives, in line with business strategy, perform quarterly reviews and salary reviews
To monitor, progress and update departmental training / skills matrix
Drive departmental Continuous improvement activities

What do I need?

Previous experience in managing a parts store that covers receipt, despatch and managing of customer owned product.
Good communication skills both verbal and written
Able to lead, influence and motivate a team of people
IT literate
Exposure to stock checking routines, process and audit requirements
Personally well organised and works to high standards
Logical approach to planning the stores functions
Fork truck use and operation
Knowledge and delivery of Continuous Improvement initiatives and adopting of LEAN principals
ISO:9001 awareness
Facility Security and key holding duties
