Customs Clerks are required to work in busy offices based in East Kent area as well as Southampton.
In this role you will be responsible for assisting, as well as completing all associated paperwork, which documents the nature of the goods being imported or exported to make sure that they are all legal and legitimate.
You must also have a good understanding of both road and sea freight processes including customs entry creation as well as displaying a good knowledge of of excise and other customs procedures codes.
The role also involves being able to manage deadlines and sometimes difficult situations so you will need to have an element of negotiating skills.
Other key elements required for this role will include:
* Good organisational and IT communication skills;
* Excellent planning skills and ability to co-ordinate own work load;
* Be aware of Health and Safety standards along with a high understanding of diversity in the workplace.
