Hays Recruitment are Recruiting for an experienced Transport Manager for our client within the construction industry based in the Dartford, Kent area.

* Excellent Knowledge of drivers' hours and tachographs and kept on record
* Ensure vehicles are not overloaded and vehicles will operate within speed limits
* Hired vehicles, are kept fit and serviceable
* Have drivers report promptly any defects or symptoms of defects, and that any defects are promptly recorded in writing and acted upon. And kept for 15 months on record
* Must maintain the FORS Silver accreditation
* Ensuring high level of customer service to all sectors of the business
* Contribute toward ongoing cost control, actively seeking to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs, increasing margin and meeting budget targets set
* Develop the integrated transport solutions (Maxoptra & Teletrac Navman) to deliver a premium & cost-effective service
* Lead and manage recruitment, retention and development of the Transport & Warehouse teams
* Establishing a positive safety and working culture, delivering high levels of driver / Warehouse operative engagement through 5S and other Continuous Improvement initiatives.
* Deal effectively with underperformance, implementing disciplinary procedures as appropriate
* Oversee the Warehouse and Transport teams work collaboratively with other internal departments and service providers.
* All aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to, including H&S induction and training, operating procedures, near miss reporting and emergency procedures.
* Ensure all invoices are checked and approved


Essential:

* Good computer skills
* Experience in leading transport / haulage operations in and around London
* Experience of managing a warehouse
* Transport legislation, e.g. Drivers' Hours etc.
* FORS Bronze / Silver accreditation
* Service or logistics industry experience
* People and health & safety management experience
* Demonstrable experience of successful resource management / cost control
* Proven track record of working to clearly defined service delivery KPI's


Desirable

* HGV License
* Certificate of Professional Competence.
