Genco Construction Services Ltd is a reactive and planned property maintenance company. We are a fast-paced business seeking a new Trainee Buyer to join our ever-growing team.

As a Trainee Buyer you will assist with purchasing and supply management for the organisation.

This role will include a wide variety of duties including processing orders and chasing deliveries, whilst assisting the Buyers.

You must be confident using Outlook email and speaking on the phone.

You will need to be physically fit in order to bring deliveries in and move stock in the
yard as necessary.

Attention to detail and basic maths is essential.

Prior knowledge of building materials and an interest in the construction industry is desirable.

Being able to prioritise and manage tasks is another key skill. Meeting deadlines is a priority as failure to do this can result in jobs being delayed.

You will be required to comply with not only Genco written purchasing procedure but also to ensure legal compliance. This document is to be read alongside Genco P06 – Control of External Providers (Purchasing) , P07 – control of contractors and PL13 – Supply Chain & Procurement Policy.

List of Duties:
• Create and manage purchase, hire and sub-contract orders accurately and efficiently
• Meet strict deadlines with very quick turnarounds as delayed orders can result in jobs being stood down at considerable cost
• Liaise with project support / project manager regarding items, quantities and delivery dates
• Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions and contracts
• Ensure that Job Flow is kept up to date with costs
• Ensure that any supplier to be used has been subject to Genco approval process
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers
• Monitor spend against job budgets
• Expedite existing orders
• Ongoing checks of live hire plant reports
• Respond to internal and external enquiries
• Take in deliveries to head office, check and store accordingly, and notify relevant parties

Salary:
£17k, rising to £18.5k upon successful completion of 6 months’ probation period
