Project Our Space - Outdoor Children & Families Group Worker

To deliver the Project Our Space including:
• Provide sessions/groups for families to explore their local environment and enjoy learning about their local communities through various outdoor activities.
• Improving health and well-being for themselves and their children in the community to support parental guidance to support child development and learning
• Supervision and support of Sessional Worker and Volunteers in the settings, working on the project
• The planning and delivery of the Project Plan
• Contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the scheme in accordance with the Home-Start Memorandum and Articles of Association, Home-Start Standards & Methods of Practice, Home-Start Agreement, and Quality Assurance Standards.
• To maintain high standards of practice in supporting families within the Home Start model
• To ensure equality of opportunity, fairness and diversity in all aspects of the scheme’s work
• Implement good safeguarding practice
MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ROLE
• Plan and facilitate supported sessions at selected local farms and green spaces with land managers, seeking training for staff on how best to use these sites on future visits
• Leading weekly outdoor, nature-based sessions at local green spaces.
• Ensuring risk assessments are relevant and up to date.
• The project would be delivered in weekly group settings in the community by a Project Lead and volunteers, including administration and management time to support and supervise the staff team
• These bespoke outdoor groups will encourage social and emotional development so parents can see first-hand the benefits of parenting support and be empowered to access their local resources and green spaces
• Activities will be offered on varying days (i.e. may not be the same day each week) to allow a broader range of families to access them
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the work of the scheme
• Undertaking work as designed in the Project Our Space Plan
• Supporting the implementation and review of all Home-Start policies and procedures.
• Complying with schemes, project administration, monitoring, and financial systems.
• Promoting the work of the scheme, as required by the Senior Worker
• Contributing to and supporting the development of the Home-Start network and project partnerships.
Support for families
• Receiving referrals and assessing the needs of families.
• Introducing families to the project
• Ensuring support to families is reviewed at regular intervals and the end of Home-Start support, in line with current Home Start guidance.
• To undertake designated responsibilities to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
• To complete a Risk Assessment before each session/outing
• To keep a register at each session detailing the names of all those attending, including visitors/speakers, with an evaluation of each speaker
• To record any accidents/incidents in the Accident or Incident Book and report as appropriate
Managing Volunteers
• Providing support and supervision for volunteers.
Working in Partnership
• Working with local farms and green spaces with land managers to develop the project
• The Project lead will work with community groups and local partners. Parents will be crucial to planning the activities and events.
• Ensuring appropriate liaison with referrers and other professionals
• Networking appropriately within the community.
