Job Summary

At FloPlast Ltd we design and manufacture a range of specialist plastic building and plumbing systems used widely in UK construction industry.

As Automation Manager you will be responsible for the output and people management within the Automation, Flofit+, Fabrication and Spray Booth Departments.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Take the lead on the development of new automation cells.
• Provide technical support on new automation projects and capital investment.
• Drive optimum manufacturing cost through product quality, high productivity and efficiency.
• Drive performance to meet daily/weekly production targets/KPIs.
• Provide clear concise daily reports on output, scrap & efficiencies.
• Strong communication with the Planning team to agree an effective plan based on efficient use of resource.
• Through excellent communication, develop a culture of continuous improvement that is based on an engaged, well-trained and motivated
workforce with low levels of absence.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement programmes with respect to the elimination of waste and improving process efficiency
and productivity.
• Implementation of, and adherence to, all Company and Factory control procedures to ensure compliance with all statutory requirements of
Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality.

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a daily 30 minute unpaid break


About You - Required Experience and Knowledge

• Experience of a manufacturing environment focussed on Automation.
• 5 years’ experience in working with robotics, particularly ABB.
• Read and understand technical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
• Strong knowledge of automation software and hardware, including PLCs, HMI and electrical systems.
• Proven experience in managing automation projects and leading teams.
• Strong leader and motivator of people, with ability to set high standards of performance and influence others to maintain high
performance.
• Able to manage and equip others to manage performance.
• Excellent communicator and good team builder with a track record of delivering improvement through others.
• Ability to manage change to deliver sustainable, measurable improvement in all aspects of manufacturing performance.
• Able to analyse data and act on results.
• IT Literate.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge

• Experience of Industrial Automation.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques.
• Served an apprenticeship with an electrical or automation bias.
• Experience of automation cells from concept design through to implementation.
• Plastic knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
