Warehouse Operative - Sittingbourne - Goods In - Fixed Night ShiftNormal hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9:00pm to 5:00am with a daily paid break of 30 minutes (divided into one 10-minute break and one 20-minute break).
Training
Please note that whilst training, the post holder will need to work the day shift - Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm.
Length of training will be dependent on the person - but hopefully should only be 2 to 4 weeks.
Required to operate a VNA truck, subject to holding a valid VNA certificate, but this goes up 14.25m in the air - so they need a head for heights.
OverviewThe Warehouse Operative (Goods In) is responsible for stock consolidation and the receipt & location of stock from external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities and DutiesThe responsibilities and main duties for this position include, but are not limited to:-

Stock Management:
* Collection & location of production stock into hi-bay racking using a man-up VNA turret truck (14.25mtrs high).
* Stock consolidation to maximise storage space in pick faces & overflow locations.
* Removal of empty cages & replenishment with new stock.
* Receipt & location of stock from external suppliers.
* Stock taking as part of our PSI (Perpetual stock inventory).
Understand work instructions and picking/packing procedures to complete the work efficiently and correctly.
* Machinery, Equipment and Maintenance:
* Use of the Very Narrow Aisle Manrise (VNA) Forklift Truck, subject to certified training.
* Use of the Counterbalance Forklift Truck, subject to certified training.
* Use of the Electric Pallet Truck, subject to certified training.
* Use of a handheld bar code scanner.
* Ensure Pre-Shift MHE checks are carried out on all machinery used.
* Basic forklift truck maintenance - checking of water/oil etc & topping up to the required level.
* Health and Safety Compliance:
* Maintain high housekeeping standards at all times, ensuring the department is free of any potential hazards for forklift trucks and pedestrians.
* Report any health and safety issues to the Leading Hand, Supervisor or Manager.
* Use provided PPE in accordance with training and health and safety procedures.
* Communication:
* Inform the Leading Hand, Supervisor or Manager of any issues with machines or equipment requiring attention.
* Notify the company at least one hour before a shift commences if unable to attend work.
* Other Duties:
* Assistance with order picking/load checking.
* Vehicle loading as & when required.
* To be flexible and assist/complete any other duties as required to ensure the smooth running of the department.
* Comply with requests from Leading Hands, Supervisors, Managers, and Company Directors.
