Eurotunnel manages, maintains, and operates the Channel Tunnel Fixed Link Concession between Folkestone
and Coquelles, France. Opened on 6 May 1994, the Fixed Link is a rolling motorway which transports
passenger and commercial freight vehicles on board Shuttles across the Channel at 140kph, in 35 minutes. It
also allows the running of third-party passenger and railfreight trains. The advantages of the Channel Tunnel
are security, reliability, speed, frequency, and respect for the environment.
In 2020, thanks to rigorous management and strong commitment from our teams, Getlink delivered a solid
operational and financial performance, in an exceptional context marked by the Covid crisis and Brexit.
Eurotunnel is seeking a highly motivated individual within its Mechanical & Electrical department. Working at
our Terminal in Folkestone you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of Eurotunnel’s Industrial
Automation Systems to ensure all primary and safety systems are operating efficiently and reliably. The
equipment involved includes PLCs of differing brands, some of which are legacy models, SCADA and Trend
BMS systems. The candidate will also be responsible for the associated instrumentation.
Due to the unique mixture and architecture of the control systems that fall under the responsibility of this role
it is envisaged that to a lesser or greater extent this will be a development opportunity.
You must have an electrical qualification, ideally to HND/HNC or equivalent with significant experience in a
technical role. Applicants must have also worked in a senior technical or engineering position for a minimum
of 2 years in a Maintenance environment.
The role requires working in a tunnel environment. Occasional shift working and participation in the
department’s management on-call roster is required.
