Our local authority client are in need of an experienced conservation & design professional with significant local government experience, to work alongside the Conservation & Design Team Manager and Senior Conservation & Design Officer (Projects) and take the lead role in handling the development management function workload of the team, under the guidance of the team's manager.

The appointed person will provide advice across the full range of development and application types from minor works/repairs to listed buildings to providing input on major development schemes where this historic environment is a material consideration.

The appointed person will have a degree or equivalent ideally in building conservation, in town planning or a related discipline, and be a full member of the IHBC, or an affiliate member working towards full membership. They will have an established track record in heritage conservation and design and several years' post-qualification experience in local government.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide written and/or verbal advice in relation to consultation requests within the relevant deadlines to help the team towards meeting its key performance indicator for the development management function.
* Manage own caseload based on meeting consultation request deadlines or as otherwise guided by the team manager.
* Take the lead role in providing verbal advice on modest/simple development proposals where the onus is on the individual case officer to initiate the appropriate conservation & design surgery discussion.
* Carry out site visits and/or site meetings where necessary in order to be able to provide advice on a properly informed basis.
