  Greenhithe, Kent
  permanent,part-time

Executive Assistant to the Archdeacon of Rochester (Initially based at the Diocesan Office, Rochester - moving to Greenhithe within 6–12 months) Salary from: £14,861.83 (FTE £28,898)
18 hours per week (can be worked over 3 or 4 days)

Are you a highly organised administrator, professional, and passionate about supporting the mission of the Church? Do you thrive in a role where no two days are the same, and your administrative skills truly make a difference?
We are seeking an Executive Administrator to the Archdeacon of Rochester to provide first-class administrative and organisational support. You’ll be a trusted and proactive presence, helping ensure the smooth running of a vital leadership role in the life of the Diocese.
About the Role
This is a busy and varied post requiring excellent communication, planning, and problem-solving skills. You’ll be responsible for managing the Archdeacon’s diary and office, supporting clergy appointments, overseeing projects, liaising with parishes, and providing a calm and confidential point of contact.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Managing the Archdeacon’s diary, correspondence, and office systems
• Overseeing the clergy appointments process, from advertising to interviews
• Coordinating meetings, training days, and annual Visitations
• Acting as a first point of contact for parishes, clergy, and external partners
• Handling confidential information with sensitivity and discretion
• Managing budgets and supporting clergy reviews and PTO processes
• Working closely with the EA team and wider Diocesan staff
• Supporting the wider mission and ministry of the Archdeaconry and Diocese

This is a frontline support role that offers both responsibility and variety, making a tangible contribution to the Church’s life and mission.

About you:

• We’re looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in executive or administrative support, ideally in a Church or non-profit context
• Organised, efficient, and able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Discreet and trustworthy with confidential or sensitive information
• Confident in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms
• Excellent in written and verbal communication
• Capable of managing complex schedules and events
• Responsive and approachable, with a calm, pastoral manner
• Familiar with the structures and values of the Church of England
• A self-starter with good judgement and the ability to work independently or collaboratively

You’ll need to be comfortable working from the office in Rochester and eventually relocating with the post to Greenhithe.

What we can offer:
• Flexible working, hybrid working and TOIL
• Generous holiday entitlement
• Contributory pension scheme
• Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and counselling service

The Diocese is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

The wider a group’s diversity, the smarter, wiser, and more compassionate and creative its decision making becomes.

We are committed to achieving diversity throughout our Diocese by seeking UKME/GMH colleagues and those from a wide-range of backgrounds, to help us create a culture of inclusion and belonging.
