Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a well-established and highly regarded firm to help grow the team. This is a forward-thinking accountancy practice that supports a wide range of clients – from SMEs to sole traders and larger limited companies – delivering accurate, compliant, and client-focused payroll services.
As Payroll Specialist, you’ll be part of a growing payroll function and work alongside colleagues to ensure smooth and compliant payroll operations. This role will give you the chance to work on varied client payrolls, get involved in specialist projects, and continue to develop your career in a supportive environment.
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday position with hybrid working.
Salary is dependent on experience/qualifications. Higher salaries can be discussed.
Duties
Manage the end-to-end payroll process for a portfolio of clients (weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls)
Review and approve payrolls prepared by junior staff if necessary, ensuring accuracy and compliance
Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries from your portfolio, providing clear advice and support
Support colleagues with technical training and complex queries when required
Ensure timely submission of RTI returns, pension contributions, and year-end reporting (P60s, P11Ds)
Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and ensure compliance across the team
Facilitate onboarding of new clients and set up payroll systems
Liaise with HMRC and pension providers where required
Contribute to payroll projects, acquisitions, and process improvements alongside the Payroll Team Manager
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have strong UK experience withing an accountancy or bureau environment. CIPP qualifications are nice to have but not necessary. You must also live within a 1hr commute of Worthing.
