People Administrator (3 year fixed term)
  From £24,302
  Rochester, Kent
  contract,full-time

Are you an organised and proactive administrator with a heart for supporting people and promoting a positive workplace culture? Do you enjoy variety in your work and have excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn?

We’re looking for a People Administrator to join our People Team at the Diocese of Rochester. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with HR or administrative experience who is passionate about supporting others, ensuring best practice, and helping to create a safe, healthy, and thriving work environment.

About the Role:

You’ll play a key part in delivering the People Team’s work, supporting recruitment, onboarding, HR administration, and staff wellbeing initiatives. You’ll ensure that processes run smoothly, records are accurate, and colleagues receive excellent support.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting recruitment campaigns – creating adverts, coordinating interviews, and liaising with candidates
• Administering onboarding for new starters, including references, DBS, training, and induction planning
• Maintaining accurate HR records, including sickness, leave, and absence tracking
• Supporting HR processes such as disciplinary, grievance, and maternity/paternity administration
• Preparing employee correspondence and maintaining up-to-date staff files and templates
• Providing administrative support for HR meetings, training, surveys, and wellbeing initiatives
• Assisting the Head of People with diary management, documentation, and policy updates
• Supporting HR project work, data reporting, and the upkeep of the Staff Handbook
• Handling all confidential information professionally and in line with data protection

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on structure and detail, values teamwork, and takes pride in delivering excellent administrative support.

About You:

• We’re looking for someone who is:
• Experienced in HR or general office administration
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• A confident communicator—both written and verbal
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Professional, discreet, and able to handle confidential information appropriately
• Able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
• Proactive and willing to learn, with a genuine interest in developing HR skills
• A team player who enjoys supporting others and contributing to shared goals

What we can offer:

• Flexible working and TOIL
• Generous holiday entitlement
• Contributory pension scheme
• Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and counselling service

Following the successful completion of the six-month probationary period, we may be able to offer support to complete CIPD Level 5 qualification. This is subject to being able to secure suitable apprenticeship funding.

The Diocese is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment.

The wider a group’s diversity, the smarter, wiser, and more compassionate and creative its decision making becomes.

We are committed to achieving diversity throughout our Diocese by seeking UKME/GMH colleagues and those from a wide range of backgrounds, to help us create a culture of inclusion and belonging.

If you have any questions about the role or application process, please contact the HR department at recruitment@rochester.anglican.org

Closing date for applications: Sunday 7 December 2025
Interviews will be held on: Tuesday 16 December 2025
