Background of department/role
An excellent opportunity to join our supportive Financial Support Team, playing a key role in helping students overcome financial barriers through the delivery of a fair, accessible, and compassionate financial support service.
As a Financial Support Administrator, you will play a key role in the administration, assessment, and distribution of the University's discretionary hardship funds, ensuring applications are processed fairly, equitably, and accurately in accordance with established policies and procedures. Through the effective delivery of financial support, you will help students overcome financial challenges, remain engaged with their studies, and achieve their academic goals.
To be successful in this role, you will be a highly organised and detail-focused administrator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be confident working with systems, databases, and financial information, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality at all times
You will have experience of administering processes and maintaining accurate records in a busy environment, together with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. You will be comfortable communicating with students from a wide range of backgrounds and able to provide sensitive and professional support when discussing financial matters.
You will be GCSE educated (or equivalent) and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team. Experience of handling sensitive information and exercising sound judgement is essential.
How will you work?
We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible and this role is Flexible and connected (Professional Services).
Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our students, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus; but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken.
